Although Turkish music was the theme of her family household, hip hop captured her heart early on in life and says she still remembers her cousin playing the first hip hop track she ever heard. Kaiya shares that she felt like she had found her musical home in hip hop and the deeper she delved into it and its’ sub genres, the deeper she fell in Love with it. Kaiya’s music is contemporary r&b meets jazz and hip hop and says that her main intention is to inspire others to feel how she feels when she creates and performs.

Writing lyrics is what comes most naturally to Kaiya in the creation process but is self taught in the use of logic pro and has also completed an Ableton production course to support herself in being a more active member in the creation process of her music. Kaiya says that although she would like to be able to do it all herself she deeply appreciates how music engineers/producers refine their craft and the magic that collaboration can bring.

Kaiya began piano lessons at a young age and admits that she passed her exams relying upon her ear rather than reading music. Kaiya shares that if she hears something she can feel where that will be on the piano. As well as piano, Kaiya is a technically trained ballet dancer and has been hip hop dancing since she was a child. She says that dance training has taught her how to form relationships with the music she writes to and shares that she often stops to dance when writing a new song.

Kaiya is involved in Melbourne’s Hip Hop scene, performing at events such as the Get Down and loves to support the artists that she lives among. She believes Melbourne is full of talent and is excited to see her fellow artists flourish. With the recent release of her first single Introspect, which was written in response to Melbourne's lock down laws, she is eager to announce her solo performance dates and upcoming album.
